a5c7b9f00b Former agent Brian O'Conner and his girlfriend Mia Toretto rescue her brother Dominic Toretto during transportation to prison, and they flee to Rio de Janeiro. They rob a car from custody and find that the powerful drug lord Hernan Reyes has US$ 100,000 in a safe located inside the police station, protected by corrupt policeman. Dominic invites his skilled crew to steal the dirty money and achieve their freedom, moving to a country without extradition to the USA. Meanwhile the tough FBI agent Luke Hobbs comes to Brazil with an elite force to arrest Dominic and Brian.
Brian O'Conner gets on the wrong side of the law when he is falsely associated with the murder of multiple police officers. He escapes to Brazil with Dom and Mia Toretto to pull of a ten million dollar heist and disappear. Their heist is made more challenging when a highly skilled and ruthless cop is sent to catch them.
Finally a film from this series that's Fast and Furious all at once. Recently released on DVD and Blu-Ray this film brings together Paul Walker and Vin Diesel in the fifth film of the series. In addition to actors from the other films in the series this film also introduces Dwayne Johnson in a new role.<br/><br/>The Fast and the Furious series is one that hasn't required a lot of attention to enjoy. The cars are cool and the action is great, the plots are generally weak but sufficient to embody the action people come to see. This film seems to be leveling off the quality of the story with the incredible action. The stunt work and special effects are the best by far of all the films.<br/><br/>The story finds Brian O'Conner (Walker) and Dominic Toretto (Diesel) together again after Dominic escapes from prison with the help of his friends. this time they're in for one last score before they fade away into hiding. When the score goes bad they find themselves calling on their old friends to join them for revenge. They're up against a powerful and corrupt business man (Joaquim de Almeida) and a daring federal agent (Johnson). The action is great and the story is well done in this fifth film.<br/><br/>Sure this isn't an Academy Award winner or anything, but it's a series that has grown up with this film. I would definitely crown thisthe best film in the series. The acting is good and the soundtrack provides a great backdrop for the action. Still the star of the show is the action. It's visually exciting and filled with over-the-top action sequences. I would definitely recommend seeing this film if you've enjoyed the others. It's also great on its own since it only loosely relies on the previous films. I would give this a 3.1 out of 5 stars.
I've seen all the others so I was expecting nothing more and possibly less. I was not disappointed. Action, action and more action, YES! Acting, direction, story, ehh. Who cares: they destroyed more cars in 60 seconds than I ever thought possible. The Rock was in top physical condition compared to a flabby and fast aging Vin Diesel. The brawl was so darkly shot that I suppose they could have been naked mud wrestling and nobody would have been the wiser.<br/><br/>Overall, fast and fun. Do not expect ANYONE to win ANY awards for ANYTHING that happened here; just let it flow over you. BTW, are foley artists retarded? Beer in a bottle being tipped back for a drink does not sound like a half-filled bottle of water being inverted. And, not every motion has to have some artificial sound effect attached to it. Much more satisfying is the slight sucking soundthe bottle leaves the lips and a mild belch following. Pullleeez.<br/><br/>Ciao, babies.
Blissfully, brainlessly satisfying.
All in all, the extended cut is a nice bonus to Fast Five but because of the minor changes, which can barely be seen during the action sequences due to the fast cutting, you are well served by the theatrical version.
